Testing of thermal properties

Plastics exhibit strongly temperature-dependent behaviour, which significantly influences their properties in use. Thermal analyses enable targeted characterization of this behaviour and provide fundamental parameters for material development, quality control, and material selection.

Typical objectives of thermal analyses include:
- Investigation of material composition through the identification of polymers, additives, and fillers
- Determination of thermal transitions to define application and processing limits
- Analysis of the melting and crystallization behaviour of polymeric materials and composite systems
- Evaluation of thermal and oxidative stability, including decomposition behaviour
- Determination of thermomechanical behaviour, including dimension-dependent changes.

In our accredited laboratory, we offer, among other things, the following testing methods:
- Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) acc. to DIN EN ISO 11357-2/-3: Determination of glass transition, melting and crystallization behaviour
- Oxidation stability (OIT) acc. to DIN EN ISO 11357-6
- Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) acc. to DIN EN ISO 11358
- Thermomechanical analysis (TMA) acc. to ISO 11359
