Testing of coatings
As coating specialists and service providers for surface technology, we ensure that coated components meet defined quality and functional requirements. Our focus in electroplating is on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and non-ferrous metal alloys. Testing serves to guarantee process stability, component function, and long-term performance, and supports development, production, and release processes.
Layer structure, adhesion strength, and surface finish are examined using non-destructive and preparative methods. This allows for the reliable evaluation and documentation of coating quality and substrate preparation.
We offer, among other things, the following testing methods:
- Layer thickness measurement using X-ray fluorescence according to DIN EN ISO 3497
- Layer thickness measurement using beta backscattering according to DIN EN ISO 3543
- Metallographic section preparation with light microscopic evaluation
- Thermal shock testing for evaluating adhesion strength according to DIN EN ISO 2819
- Roughness measurement according to DIN EN ISO 4287 (stylus method)
