STASSKOL
About us
STASSKOL has been active in sealing technology for over 100 years. The product portfolio includes seals for compressors, shaft seals for use in rotating equipment and high-performance Polymers developed and manufactured in-house.
STASSKOL seals are used in a wide variety of industrial sectors, such as the food industry, aerospace, vacuum technology, mechanical engineering or the petrochemical industry. In contrast to other suppliers, STASSKOL is not only able to manufacture the seals in standard sizes and designs, but also to optimally adapt the dimensions, material selection and sealing system to the customer's application. In addition, the sealing experts develop their own sealing solutions for applications that are particularly demanding in terms of process temperatures, pressures and the medium to be sealed.
When manufacturing the seals, STASSKOL uses high-performance polymers from its own production, which are permanently temperature-resistant up to 300°C, wear-resistant in high-pressure processes up to 1000 bar, resistant to acids, grease and solvents and can be manufactured up to a diameter of 1200mm.
The company has test equipment that is unique in the world and a research and development department that has developed a number of patents over the past few years.
STASSKOL operates in Europe from its location in Stassfurt, Germany, has representatives in China, India and Japan and another production site in the USA. 130 employees work for the company worldwide.

Semi-finished Products - Bushings
STASSKOL specializes in the production of high-performance materials that are already being used successfully in many industrial sectors. These include, for example, the chemical and petrochemical industries, mechanical engineering, aerospace, vacuum technology and the food industry. Thanks to the addition of selected fillers and production using the hot or cold pressing process, STASSKOL’s high-performance plastics have outstanding properties such as permanent temperature resistance up to 300°C, wear resistance in high-pressure processes up to 1,000 bar and resistance to acids, greases and solvents. STASSKOL is also able to produce materials up to a diameter of 1,400 mm. STASSKOL materials are available under the names ESKAPEEK (PEEK), ESKAFLON (PTFE), ESKASINT (PI), ESKATRON (PPS), ESKABASE (polyethylene) and ESKATECH (polyamide). You can choose from a wide range of material compositions. We will be happy to assist you in selecting the optimum plastic for your application.

Semi-finished Products - Round Rods
Round rods are available in various diameters and heights and in a wide range of material compositions. Even small quantities are available at low cost. As STASSKOL already produces the round rods in the dimensions that come closest to your finished part, there is no need to cut them to size and there are no unusable offcuts. We will be happy to advise you on the selection of the optimum high-performance plastic for your specific application.

Semi-finished Products - Cuttings
Cuttings made of PTFE, PEEK, PI, PPS, PA and PE are available in a wide range of thicknesses and colors. Even unusual shapes can be produced according to your specifications. The blanks are also produced using a hot or cold pressing process, resulting in exceptionally resilient materials. We will be happy to advise you on the selection of the optimum plastic for the intended application.

SDF series - The new shaft seal for trouble-free operations. The SDF series seals reliably, minimizes product loss, leakage and wear, has a long service life and is easy to install and clean. The sealing material used is food-grade.
Fine material products, such as dusts and powders, as well as liquids or liquid-solid mixtures place special demands on the sealing of a shaft. The new SDF Series - STASSKOL DynamicSeal Faceseal - has been developed specifically for this purpose. The seal can generally be used in all mechanical systems with a shaft. The task of a seal in these machines is to reliably seal the agitator shaft, minimize mixing losses and protect the mixing material from contamination. It should also prevent medium from entering the bearings and causing damage there. In summary, the aim is to ensure trouble-free operation of the plant and thus of the entire process. The STASSKOL DynamicSeal Faceseal combines the advantages of the known shaft seals without compromising on functionality. The axially contacting sealing surface minimizes leakage. The large radial clearance in the sealing chamber makes it possible, to maintain the sealing function even if the shaft runs highly out of round by up to 4 mm. The bearing of the sealing rings on the elastic inner component ensures contact at the dynamic sealing surfaces even in the case of misalignment between shaft and housing, effectively preventing leakage. The use of sealing gas also ensures that if particles unexpectedly enter the sealing gap, they are blown out again. This greatly extends the service life of the STASSKOL DynamicSeal Faceseal. In order to obtain optimum properties with regards to temperature development, wear and strength in the area of application, STASSKOL developed the new material SK933 for the sealing rings. The minimalist design with few components enables easy, quickly and safely assembly, disassembly and cleaning at the point of use. All sealing elements and the housing are axially separable so that the seal can be mounted around the shaft without having to remove bearings and other attachments. In addition, the elastic inner component has a specially designed puzzle joint. The materials used are food-compliant.

Piston Rings and Rider Bands
Piston rings and rider bands are used in horizontal, vertical and v-shaped cylinders. STASSKOL manufactures a wide range of one-piece or multipiece piston rings and rider bands with and without expansion springs as well as pressure-relief grooves. The axial and radial dimensions and the ring gaps are decided for long-life cycle of the piston and rider rings. The basis for the exact calculation is mean piston temperature as well as the coefficient of expansion of used materials.

Piston Rod Packing - are used in double-acting reciprocating compressors to seal the crank-side cylinder.
STASSKOL designs and manufactures a range of piston rod packings suitable for all applications used in reciprocating piston compressors. We manufacture piston rod packings for both lubricated and non-lubricated conditions, with cooled or non-cooled cases. All our designs can be supplied with additional connections for leakage gas, buffer gas, purge gas and temperature monitoring to suit the operating conditions. With our unique Engineered packings and Special Polymer Materials, STASSKOL can design and manufacture packings that can operate in the most EXTREME CONDITIONS. One such example; HYDROGEN NON-LUBRICATED very high pressures compressors used for HYDROGEN transportation and fueling. Other examples including specially developed packings for very high pressure Non-Lubricated CNG compressors, compressing Natural Gas up 300bar.

Recycling of Plastics
STASSKOL has been working on the topic of ‘recycling PTFE’ for several years. The special focus here is on the material ‘SK801’, a highly filled sealing material for hydrogen compressors based on PTFE. The waste from this material has been consistently collected in production for years and initially roughly shredded. This includes not only chips, but also remnants of semi-finished products or defective sealing rings. This is followed by fine grinding to grain sizes below 50 micrometres (Figure 8), so that the recyclate can be added to the virgin material at a proportion of 25% by weight. The mechanical properties as well as the excellent wear properties are not affected by the recycling process.
